The friday saw the morning start of with light onshore winds, and glorious sunshine. It was good to catch up with all the old BKSA faces, and also some new guys on the tour, at riders briefing and breakfast. With the wind looking bleak, the riders were kept on standbye
Saturday saw light offshore winds of 10-12kts, again not enough wind to run an event. Luckily Gary Powell from Northwestkitesurfing was on hand with his zapcat, and plenty of Standup paddle boards to keep all the riders active. Even though the wind picked up a little, it was not enough in the gusty offshore wind shadow. But as the wind picked up late, myself along with James Boulding, Rosanna Jury, Craig Smith, and George Dufty all decided to drive round the corner to Roa Island with Mark Ding from Supersaturated, to grab some sunset shots. This turned out to be an incredible session with awesom golden light unlike any of us expected. We all stayed out till well past sunset in what was a great session.
Sunday again started of with light offshore winds in the morning, increasing in the afternoon. Around lunch time, the wind started to increase, so i went for a quick ride to "test" the condition before judging. The conditions were surprisingly nice but the wind was very holy. This made it almost impossible to run heats, so we opted for a best trick competition in all categories which worked really well. Surprisingly though in the tough conditions, Pete Jones grabbed some awesom shots of me, and Paul from CKB boards shot a little video.
All in all, this compeition was incredibly fun, and i got alot more riding than i had expected so im pretty stoked.
Thanks for the guys taking the shots, especially Mark. check out his shots at
